Understanding SL/TP Execution on cTrader via PF1

Why do stop and limit orders appear on cTrader when I Add SL/TP option on PF1?

Written by Daniel umahi

When Adding SL/TP to your trade on PF1, the platform communicates your Stop Loss (SL) and Take Profit (TP) levels to cTrader by creating stop and limit orders. These orders act as placeholders to ensure your SL and TP are active and functional on cTrader.

Essentially, an SL and a TP are just stop orders and limit orders associated with a position of the same volume but in the opposite direction. SL and TP act as a feature that keeps pending orders tied to your position rather than issuing a specific trading instruction.

This behavior is expected and ensures that your trade parameters are properly set and ready to execute when the price reaches the specified levels. It’s a mechanism designed to provide accuracy and reliability in trade execution.
